Cossham Hall

This building was originally a Wesleyan Chapel built in 1789 and presented to the town by the late Handel Cossham in 1888. It has since been enlarged by the Parish Council and is used for Concerts, Entertainments, Meetings etc accommodating about 400 persons. Fire Brigade

The Fire Engine is the property of the Thornbury Parish Council and kept at the Fire Station, St Mary Street.  No charge is made for the use of the Engine at fires within the parish but in cases of fires outside the parish £3 3s is charged for the use of the Engine and £1 10s for horse hire in addition to the pay of the Brigade according to the rules and all other expenses incurred.  The firemen are as follows.

Gospel Total Abstinence Society

Market

A large and important market for horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, fruit, & etc is held at Streamleaze near the Railway Station on the second Wednesday and fourth Monday in each month.  Prizes are offered for the best cattle and to the biggest purchaser at the December market.  Mr W Phillips toll collector.  Messrs Luce Young and Alpass and Messrs Moses Smith and son auctioneers.
